The Fruit of Holy Spirit
Galatians 5:19 Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, 21 envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Good root, great fruit!
22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 24Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
The fruit of Holy Spirit is LOVE! Love for God first, and love for others. See, according to 1st John 4:8 says, “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” and 1 John 4:15-16 says, “15Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 16 We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.
When we confess Jesus is Son of God, we are in God, and God is love, and God’s love pours out on us and we give it back to Him and it overflows us and pours out on others. Our actions start showing it. We have a deep internal love within us that spreads out of us. We become kinder, gentler, more peaceful, more goodness shows–we become God focused and others focused and not as selfish…we become self-less. And we love deeply.
How many have noticed that once you got personal with Jesus you changed and are changing for the better?—That is great fruit.
Take your roots deeper…Good root, great fruit!
When I was in middle school I had one kid who urked me…he urked everyone…very few stood up to him…but on a few occasions I did…I considered him my enemy. But then something happened…my enemy became my friend. Has anyone here ever experienced that. Your enemy became your friend?
Do we know that God wants us to love our enemies?
In Jesus, He says, Matthew 5:43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
Lets break that down—love your enemy and pray for them if you are God’s child, and bad things may happen in life to everybody but keep loving God and others.
How do we love our enemy?–first, love God, spend time with Him, hang out with Holy Spirit and ask Him to show you how He sees everyone. And He sees everyone through loving eyes.
How many of us ever had great vision…but in times our eyes started acting up? In the last 2 years my eyes started acting up as I read or as I drove at night. In time I knew I needed to get glasses…so here I was seeing things in the distance real blurry, but when I got my prescription glasses, everything came into focus.
Get God’s glasses! See the world through His lenses…love Him and love others….Good root, great fruit.
